I love this time of year, fig crop is almost here, but the pears and apples are ready for picking. A pear and cheese slice, pear and gorgonzola cheese on a salad with walnuts… and the ever popular jams, jellies, and pies.
Spring flowers… April Showers…. our forecast for Spring based on the flowers blooming at our farm is… rain in April!
Reese, our competition Arab, has been in conditioning for the Open Division of NATRAC. You can see his muscle definition, particularly in his hocks. He’s a fantastic endurance and distance horse.
We have two types of squirrels on our property, of which the grey squirrel seems to outnumber our fox squirrels. Here’s a lovely sample of our treebourne friends.
Seeing an eastern bluebird is supposed to indicate love, admiration, and transition… It’s a positive thing to celebrate… at least according to southern US folklore. I just think they are stunning, particularly on our lovely cedar trees.
While some people rely on groundhogs for their predictions on when winter will end, our own “Psychic” Mellie indicates that we will not have any more winter, spring is here!
